So Calibre has returned once again with another superb long player. This LP brings more of what we've come to expect from the northern irishman, but also covers a range of different moods which bounce around inside the running time of the record. Personal highlights would be 'Running', a guitar driven funk rinseout which i'm sure we'll be hearing dropping all over the place this summer. 'Cully Bridge' brings some really wonderful atmospheric vocoder stabs over a hard steppin break to brilliant effect, and 'Close to Me' is also awash with deep atmosphere and emotional lifting progression. Really feeling this album, and its pretty obviously going to be one of the biggest of the year, so if your a fan show some love and go and pick it up. The 3x Vinyl / CD package is in all good record stores at around £20.
In celebration of this awesome release, I have prepared an 80 minute Calibre Appreciation mix made up of 32 of my personal highlights. It features tunes from pretty much every Calibre album over the past decade, aswell as a few random other tracks thrown in for good measure. I've always been massively inspired by Mr Martin and his Signature Recordings and i'd like to think this recording shows that. Enjoy! ;)
Very happy to welcome my good friend & guitar noise-maker supreme Geraint Newall aka King Gezrick to the station. He will be bringing a variety of different metal music from around the world every Saturday from 8pm. If you like things load, sweaty, distorted and rocking, be sure to check it out :)
